It's halfway through the German season and it has definitely been an outstanding season to mid-table teams and rather disastrous to most of the ambitious teams. The Bundesliga has and is still coming up with new stars that are right now on most of the top European football clubs wish list. Here's a look at the stars so far. (Formation: 3-5-2)
Goalkeeper:
Neuer: This is may come as a surprise to everyone given Schalke's rank in the Bundesliga and their 26 conceded goals in just 20 games. Neuer has been in outstanding form this season, its a shame he has such disastrous defence at his disposal but if he was not around, Schalke would at least double their conceding. 26 goals and he is definitely not to blame for any. Almost always the best player in Schalke's games.
Defence:
RB: Lahm: Easily one Bayern's best players on the field in a rather disappointing start to the season.
CB: Hummels: Easily the best defender in the league. The BVB have conceded 12 goals so far and a big reason for that is Hummels. Rock solid at defence. His marking and tackling is that of a world class defender.
LB: Schmelzer: The answer Joachim Loew's left back problems. Has been in a great form this season and is always where he needs to be, whether attacking or defending.
Midfield:
CM: Sahin: He's got everything. Vision, positioning, accuracy, workrate, defending and attacking. Following in the footsteps of Xavi.
CM: Vidal: 9 goals, 7 assists for a kind of defending midfielder who wins most of his challenges and tackles really well.
AM: Kagawa: Joined Dortmund for 280,000 Pounds from a 2nd division club in Japan. 8 goals, 2 assists and has been wonderful and always a threat for the opposition.
AM: Marin: May be a surprise given his disastrous side Bremen who have not a lot, or anything really but this guy is the best dribbler and most entertaining player in the Bundesliga. 7 assists, 2 goals and is on fire
AM: Holtby: At only 19 years of age, this player has been great. Led Mainz to a surprising start to the top of the Bundesliga, Magath must be cursing the day he loaned him from Schalke. 7 assists and 3 goals.
Attack:
ST: Gomez: 3 assists and 15 goals, and did not play the start of the season cause he was the 4th striker in Van Gaal's 4-5-1 formation, number 3 was Van Buyten. Two words: Unbelievably outstanding. The goal scoring machine has returned to his goal scoring form and is always a threat to the opposition although he makes silly mistakes.
ST: Cisse: 15 goals for the striker and is the main reason of Freiburg's unbelievable 6th place in the Bundesliga and is wanted by Europe's big clubs.
Honorable Mentions: Weidenfeller, Subotic, Beck, Mertesacker, Gekas, Sven Bender, Schuerrle, Grafite.
Final Formation:
